Why Smart TVs are different
Samsung (Tizen) and LG (webOS) TVs only install apps from their own stores, so codes for Downloader do not apply. Hot Player is available in those stores and signs in with the TV’s MAC address instead of a username.
Samsung
- Press Home on the remote.
- Choose Search (the magnifier) and type Hot Player.
- Select Hot Player and press Install. A Samsung account and an internet connection are required.
LG
- Press Home on the remote.
- Open Apps (on older models: LG Content Store) and use its search.
- Find Hot Player and press Install. An LG account and an internet connection are required.
Activate it
Open Hot Player. The screen shows a MAC address and a device key. Send us the MAC — typing it or sending a photo of the screen both work — and we add your subscription. More about MAC activation.
If Hot Player is not in your TV’s store
App availability depends on the country and the TV model. Send us your TV brand and model and we will tell you what works. If you also own an Android TV box or a Fire TV Stick, the experience there is usually better — see the Fire TV Stick guide.
Quick checks for a smooth picture
- Set the TV’s date, time and time zone to automatic — a wrong clock breaks the TV guide.
- Use a network cable if you can; Wi-Fi far from the router is the most common cause of stutter. See the buffering guide.
